Increased Police Patrols In Washtenaw County
The statewide crackdown on drunken driving remains ongoing and Washtenaw County will be amping up their efforts for the New Year celebration. Starting at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, extra officers from several agencies will be on patrol looking for suspected drunken drivers and motorists who aren't wearing seat belts. The extra patrols will be back out at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday for the final night of extra enforcement. The extra effort is being funded by the state Office of Highway Safety Planning through federal traffic safety grants.
