Trial To Begin In Embezzlement Case
A former Vassar deputy clerk, Nichole L. Licavoli, is facing a jury trial tomorrow. She was charged with 21 counts of embezzlement by a public official, a 10-year felony, last January. It is being reported that residents were receiving late notices for water and sewer bills that they had paid in cash. After they had complained about the late notices on previously-paid bills, an investigation ensued and allegedly revealed that Licavoli had skimmed more than $23,000 between July 2008 and December, 2009. Her employment with the city was terminated in January.
Facing embezzlement charges can be humiliating and very upsetting. If you are convicted of embezzling money, you could face very serious punishments which could include jail or prison time, restitution, community service, fines and more. Additionally, if you are accustomed to having employment with a high level of financial responsibility, you could find yourself unable to hold those types of positions again with this type of conviction on your record.
