Daughter Charged, Among Others, In Parents’ Stabbing
Last Thursday, two people in Halloween masks climbed through a window at the home of Paul and Mara Skinner in
Yale, Michigan
. Both were attacked and stabbed multiple times. Paul Skinner died from his injuries. Mara Skinner, a school teacher, is currently at a
Port Huron
hospital recovering from more than 20 knife wounds.
On Sunday, three people were charged with open murder, attempted murder and conspiracy. Among those charged, the couple’s 17-year-old daughter, Tia Marie-Mitchell Skinner, who was at home at the time of the attack. Also charged were her boyfriend, Jonathan Kurtz and another boy, James Preston. Bond was denied at the arraignment and they will remain in jail until the November 23rd hearing. Police have indicated that parental disapproval of their daughter’s relationship with Kurtz may have led to the attack.
