Employee Of Grocer Charged With Embezzlement
Angela McKenzie of South Lyon is accused of stealing more than $81,000 from the County Market in Saline. Police allege that she stole the money over a 3-year period while she was responsible for emptying the store's lottery ticket machine as a manager. Another employee reportedly noticed discrepancies in the lottery earnings and unusually large grocery returns which were allegedly traced to McKenzie. McKenzie pleaded not guilty of one count of embezzling between $50,000 and $100,000 at her arraignment and is scheduled to appear for her preliminary hearing on December 8th.

If you are convicted of embezzling money, you could face very serious punishments which could include jail or prison time, restitution, community service, fines and more. Additionally, if you are accustomed to having employment with a high level of financial responsibility, you could find yourself unable to hold those types of positions again with this type of conviction on your record.
