Mom Turned In By Daughter Gets 6 Months In Jail
On February 18th, a Southfield woman was arrested for
drunk driving after her 9-year-old daughter gave a note to a bank teller asking for help, saying that her mother had been drinking. Reportedly that the woman, whose blood alcohol content was allegedly 0.25% at the time, earlier pleaded no contest to
operating a vehicle while intoxicated and
driving with a suspended license. Tuesday, the woman was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 3 years probation.
A DUI or
OWI conviction can have numerous negative consequences. Of course, imprisonment is one of the most serious consequences. However, even losing your driver's license for an extended period of time can cause economic hardship and a great deal of stress. Relying upon friends, family members, and public transportation to get to and from work or school is not only a hassle, but you may not be able to get where you need to go on time. You may also face fines, community service and probation for a conviction. Loss of employment is yet another potential side effect.
