Drug Bust Results In Federal Charges
Demetrius Sciplin, 40, was charged in a federal complaint with possession with intent to distribute heroin. The charges stem from a November 2
nd traffic stop in Sylvan Township where he was pulled over for following too close to another vehicle. At the time, Sciplin was allegedly driving on a
suspended driver's license from Illinois to Detroit. It is being reported that an affidavit signed by ATF Special Agent Scott Toth states that after pulling over the vehicle, Sciplin gave Michigan State Police troopers permission to search his car wherein the officers found large amounts of suspected heroin. Sciplin reportedly told investigators that he has been taking heroin to Detroit once a week for about 2 months, that he was paid $10,000 for each delivery as well as another $800 for each trip plus half of his eating expenses. Sciplin was previously charged by county prosecutors with
delivery of a controlled substance between 50 and 449 grams and
driving with a suspended license.
If you have been charged with a drug crime, letting a
Michigan drug crimes lawyer review your case is one of the most important things you can do. You need someone on your side in court. By conducting an independent investigation, your lawyer may discover that law enforcement actually did not conduct a valid search and that the evidence obtained during that search may be inadmissible. This alone would greatly impact a case. You have the right to be protected from an unlawful search and seizure by law enforcement personnel. You also have the right to legal counsel in the face of any criminal charges, and this includes drug crimes.
