Arsonist Caught in Flint
An arsonist will be setting fires no more in Flint, Michigan, after being detained by the local authorities there.
According to Alvern Lock, the Public Safety Director, the suspect was brought into custody last week on suspicion of setting five fires in the area. While he is suspected to be involved in at least four more fires, Alvern and law enforcement officers are still working with the public to find more information. In a public statement, Alvern hoped to "encourage anyone with information about any crime to share that information with us. You never know how that information can be used to lead us to a suspect."
One of the fires was so intense that it caused heat exhaustion in three firefighters. While two of the firefighters were able to return later that week, one remains in the hospital, albeit in stable condition. Several of the homes that were set on fire were occupied at the time.
Firefighters from Mount Morris, Davison, Burton and Genesee township turned out to help extinguish the fires.
