Ex-Macomb County Commissioner Placed On Probation
On November 24, aRoseville police officer allegedly observed Irene Kepler, former Macomb County commissioner, driving erratically along 12 Mile Road, west of Utica Road. After effectuating a traffic stop, the officer administered field sobriety tests but was unable to administer a preliminary breath test at the scene due to Kepler's initial refusal to perform the test. Later it was reported that she took a breath test at the police station and her blood alcohol level at that time was 0.25. This was Kepler's second alcohol related arrest. She had previously pleaded guilty to impaired driving in 2009.
It is being reported that Kepler ultimately pleaded guilty in this case and today was sentenced to two years' probation and ordered to continue alcohol rehabilitation in addition to payment of all her fines and costs to the court. She must also submit to alcohol testing twice a week and find an AA "sponsor."
