Man Leads Police To His Home Where He Had Guns, Pills And Marijuana
On Tuesday, a Michigan State Police trooper stopped a man for a seatbelt violation at around 5:50 p.m. in Concord. The officer allegedly smelled marijuana as he approached the car. When he asked the driver about the smell, the man reportedly volunteered that he had six marijuana cigarettes in the car and more pot at his house. News reports indicate that the man led the trooper back to his house where the officer and his police dog found 4 lbs of packaged marijuana, a marijuana grow room, prescription pills and several guns. The officer did not arrest the man due to his candor but instead, turned it over to the prosecutor's office. The trooper expects charges to be filed for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possible
gun charges.
Letting a Michigan drug crimes lawyer review your case is one of the most important things you can do. You need someone on your side in court. By conducting an independent investigation, your lawyer may discover that law enforcement actually did not conduct a valid search and that the evidence obtained during that search may be inadmissible. This alone would greatly impact a case. You have the right to be protected from an unlawful search and seizure by law enforcement personnel. You also have the right to legal counsel in the face of any criminal charges, and this includes drug crimes.
