St. Patrick’s Day

It's St. Patrick's Day and that usually means packed pubs and green beer.  Unfortunately, it also means more drunk drivers on the roads.  If you are planning on hitting the pub today, make sure you have a designated driver. 

It is being reported that last year, 101 people were arrested in Michigan for drunk driving.  It is illegal for anyone to drive with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher.  Anyone convicted of drunk driving could face up to 93 days in jail, up to a $500 fine, up to 360 hours of community service, 180 days driving suspension and six points on their driver's license.  Of those arrested in 2010, about a third reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 or higher.  This year, anyone arrested with that blood alcohol content will qualify for the " super drunk law."   Those convicted under the " super drunk" law face the same community service and points as well as up to 180 days in jail, up to $700 fine, one year suspended license with restrictions permitted after 45 days and one year mandatory alcohol treatment program.
