DUI Campaign Nets 230 Arrests in Michigan

In an effort to cut down on drunk driving in their state, different police departments in Michigan have been working together on a recent campaign.

The campaign was held between August 19^th and September 5^th. During this time, officers arrested 230 people on assorted DUI charges. Of those arrested, 34 individuals were found to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 or greater. In total, 11,300 traffic stops were conducted during this period.

In addition to catching drunk drivers, police also searched for other traffic violations, including speeding and seat belt violations. Officers say that they handed out 2,530 child restraint and seat belt violations during the campaign.

Thanks to a grant provided by federal traffic safety funds, 200 state and local agencies were able to contribute to the increased patrols during the campaign.
